Indian head

The perfect antidote to modern day life

As you would expect from the name, Indian head massage first originated in India where it is still commonly practised amongst women and in barbers. The Hindu and Urdu term Champissage (think massaging in shampoo) is the practise of massaging the head, neck and face.

Brought to the west in the 1970's, Indian head massage was adapted to include massage of the upper back and shoulders. Bad posture, stress and hours spent sitting are typical of  western society; massaging the upper back and shoulders relieves the muscular tension, aches and pains that builds up there; whilst traditional head and face massage has de-stressing effect on the mind.

Since most of us now spend a lot of time typing and thumb scrolling on our hand held computer devises; I feel it's nice to also include some focused work on the forearms, wrists and hands so as to keep them healthy and less prone to repetitive strain injury.

With complete focus on the upper back, head, neck, shoulders, arms, hands and face; Indian head massage truly is the perfect antidote to modern day life!

This full treatment can be enjoyed as a 1 hour session although a 75/90min session allows more time to work on the upper back, neck and shoulders if muscles are chronicaly tight.

An Indian head massage may be mixed and matched with any of the other treatments I offer in order to create a personalised treatment based on your needs. Prices and Availability
